Both serenity and eager anticipation of a day on the Appalachian Trail are reflected in this piece. Based on the old Appalachian ballad/fiddle tune "Bonny James Campbell", each orchestra section enjoys opportunities to play melodies, rich harmonies, and driving rhythms.
